see conference #3 – nice again
Juten Tach,
once again i attended the see conference in Wiesbaden. I’ve been there the last two times, too, and it is always fun to be there. It is not such a huge conference like others, basically everything takes place in a small cinema. It has a nice atmosphere. Only this time, it was raining the whole day, so you couldn’t sit outside.
There were some interesting speakers this year. Zachary Lieberman held a very good talk, Frank von Ham from IBM gave an interesting overview of the many-eyes project. A little bit weird was the talk from Bruce Sterling. I guess this was also, because my ability to understand american slang has limits and Bruce practices quite some “chewing-gum” style of talking ;o)
But i think i still got the assence of his speech and i agree, today’s world is already more virtual as we sometimes think and if only all of the already existing technology would be cheap enough today to pervade our households, science fiction wouldn’t be so fictitious anymore, regardless of this being a good or bad thing.
Anyway, nice conference and worth visiting.
